Shirts and blouses require more attention to detail than most other garments. We check to make sure that all the buttons are on tight and no buttons are cracked or missing after the cleaning process. Our tailor will tighten or replace as necessary. We concentrate on the collars and sleeves until they are perfect. There is nothing better than a correctly pressed shirt. A poorly pressed garment will ruin the caliber of the entire outfit. The pressing of a shirt becomes a very personal choice. We have several options available for your shirts. The ultimate care is a hand finished shirt; no machines are involved at all. On staff we have a hand presser who has years of experience and ironing shirts is his specialty. Hand pressing is at time consuming and much more personalized. This type of care is more expensive than shirts pressed by machines. Unlike the dry-cleaned and hand pressed shirts, the machine pressed shirts are laundered and then pressed in a by a series of different pressing machines. While the shirts are still damp, the first step in the finishing process is to press the collars and cuffs on a collar cuff machine, afterwards a sleever, which presses both sleeves simultaneously, and lastly on to the buck press where two large plates press the front and back of the shirt simultaneously. When the shirt is finished it is dried and pressed crisp. Finally the shirt goes through quality control to ensure that the final product has met our checklist. Once inspected the shirts are than sorted, bagged and sent to your door.
A dry-cleaned shirt or blouse is more expensive because it takes 4 to 7 times longer to hand finish, depending on the cut of the garment or the fabric.
Getting a properly finished shirt is a painstaking process that requires special attention by a well-trained staff. Improper handling of the garment can ruin it beyond repair.
